The Perimeter Technologies Ultra Comfort Electronic Fence works in the same way as traditionally “wireless” containment
fences. A boundary wire buried in the ground emits a radio wave that can be sensed by the electronics in the dog’s collar.
This signal is monitored by the collar and when your dog approaches the boundary, a warning tone and then a correction
(mild electrical shock) is administered to your dog. When properly trained, your dog will not cross the boundary wire, thereby
keeping the dog contained in the safety zone defined by the boundary wire.
The electronic fence consists of basically two components: the boundary wire and associated electronics and the collar and
its associated electronics worn by the dog. The boundary wire is a single strand copper wire is a plastic sheathing that is
specifically designed to be buried in a shallow ground trench. The boundary wire forms a loop, which can be of various
sizes and shapes depending on how you want the dog’s safety zone to be configured. This boundary wire is connected by
means of a twisted pair of wires to the electronic module that is mounted inside the house near a standard electrical outlet.
The electronic module generates a radio signal in the boundary wire; the module also performs other maintenance and
monitoring tasks on the boundary wire.
The small electronic module on the dog’s collar can be configured to first issue a warning beep and then issue a correction
to your dog as it approaches the boundary. An instructional video included in the package shows how to quickly train your
dog to respect the boundary. Up to three separate dogs can be accommodated by the Ultra Comfort electronic fence by
purchasing extra collars. The collar’s electronic module also has other features that monitor how fast your dog is
approaching the boundary, cuts off the stimulation after a short period of time (as a safety feature), plus more.
Since the boundary wire defines the shape and size of the safety zone, this type of electronic fence is suitable for pet owners
that cannot use the totally Perimeter Technologies unique totally wireless WiFi Electronic Fence.
